Quick answer: yes, as long as your new car is compatible with the Ghost you already have. We take it out of the old car and fit it to the new one. Contact us with both registrations for a de-fit and refit price.
The most common reason is the new car’s network. A Ghost-II is built for the single CAN bus used on most existing cars. Many newer cars, roughly from 2024, use the faster CAN-FD network, and those need a Ghost 3. If that is your situation, we will tell you before you book anything. Our guide to upgrading to Ghost 3 explains the difference.
Once the Ghost is removed, the old car goes back to its factory security and no longer needs your sequence to start. If you are selling it, that is what the new owner will expect. Remember to tell your insurer about both cars: that the Ghost has gone from one and been fitted to the other. Our page on Ghost and insurance covers what to say.
We do not recommend it. The Ghost sits on the car’s network and its wiring, and a poor removal or refit can leave either car with electrical faults. A professional move keeps both cars as they should be.
Call 0800 246 1482 or use the form on our contact page with both registrations, and we will confirm compatibility and price.
It depends on both cars. Contact us with the registrations and we will give you a de-fit and refit price.
We set the sequence up again on the new car’s buttons. You can keep a similar pattern if the new car has suitable buttons, or choose a new one.
Some newer cars use the CAN-FD network, which needs a Ghost 3. We check the exact car before booking.
No. Once the Ghost is removed, the car starts as it did from the factory.
